The Akerman Hall renovation involved a complete overhaul of the former hangar area for the Aerospace and Engineering Mechanics Program. All work took place within a fully occupied building that included lab spaces, graduate research offices, faculty offices, and classrooms. Scope included the renovation of an existing airplane hangar into a student lounge and faculty offices, industrial and chemical laboratory spaces, exterior repairs/restoration, new HVAC system, fire/life safety system, window replacement, elevator installation, and penthouse construction for new air handling units.
